Racing between yacht clubs for the Swanson Cup and Bay Cup has been a tradition on the bay for over 50 years. The winner gets a grand trophy to hang in their clubhouse for the year. As you can tell by the happy smiles on the 2019 Bristol Yacht Club team pictured below, both competing and winning are great fun.
This year, we have made some important changes to make the event easier. The racing will be at Halfway Rock which reduces travel time to an hour or less for everyone. The PHRF cumulative rating band has been eliminated. You can now choose three boats of any speed. Lastly, the regular racing rules that we all use all the time will be in force. No longer will the “Team Racing” rules apply. This race will be run within the Fall Regatta. Boats on a team will be scored individually for the Fall Regatta and as a team for the two Cups. This give you a chance to win two cups while paying for only one regatta.
