One Bay. One Season. One Chance for Bragging Rights.

For more than 50 years, yacht clubs across Narragansett Bay have battled for one thing that matters almost as much as winning a race—earning the right to hang a championship trophy in their clubhouse and remind their rivals about it all year long.

The Swanson Cup (Spinnaker Division) and Bay Challenge Cup (Non-Spinnaker Division) are NBYA's premier inter-club team racing championships. Each participating yacht club fields a team of three boats to compete against teams from other clubs in spirited windward-leeward racing that tests skill, teamwork, strategy, and club pride.

This isn't just boat against boat.

It's club against club.

Can your team bring home the silver? Will your club's name be added to a trophy that has been fought over for generations? Or will you spend the winter listening to your rivals tell the story of how they beat you?

New Format. More Fun. Less Hassle.

Recent changes have made the competition more accessible and more exciting than ever:

• Racing at Halfway Rock keeps travel times to roughly an hour or less for everyone.

• No PHRF cumulative rating band restrictions. Build your team with any three boats you choose.

• Standard racing rules apply. No specialized team racing rules to learn.

• One race, two opportunities to win. The Swanson Cup and Bay Challenge Cup are now scored within the NBYA Fall Regatta.

Every boat competes for individual Fall Regatta honors while simultaneously contributing points toward its yacht club's team score. That means your entry fee gives you a shot at both individual glory and club championship bragging rights.

Assemble Your Team. Defend Your Club.

Gather your best three boats. Recruit your strongest crews. Fly your club burgee with pride.

The competition is friendly.

The rivalry is real.

And the trophy looks a lot better hanging in your clubhouse than someone else's.
