Mission and Programs

As part of the Narragansett Bay Yachting Association, juniors and PHRF train and race alongside sailors from clubs all around the Bay, learning sportsmanship, teamwork, and a love for the water. Our programs and regattas are led by experienced coaches who make safety, fun, and growth the top priorities.

When you join NBYA, you’re joining a community, one that cheers you on, celebrates your progress, and connects you to sailing traditions that have thrived here for generations.

Come sail with us. Compete, learn, and make memories on the Narragansett Bay!

Mission Statement

The Narragansett Bay Yacht Association (NBYA) serves as a Regional Sailing Association (RSA) for US Sailing, providing leadership, structure, and coordination for sailboat racing throughout Narragansett Bay and its surrounding waters. NBYA works to strengthen communication among local sailors and yacht clubs, serving as a bridge between the regional sailing community and the national sailing authority, US Sailing. The organization acts as a central source of information, ensuring that important updates and guidance from US Sailing reach all NBYA members. NBYA is also committed to maintaining strong fiscal and administrative practices to support both junior and adult sailing programs, encouraging active participation across generations. As part of its RSA duties, NBYA provides appeals committees when needed and serves as a trusted resource for regional sailing organizations in planning and managing racing events
