Mighty Mary In Theaters Now

AMC Theaters show-times for Mighty Mary have finally been released!

Watching a sailing movie in a major theater is a rare treat. Think, Wind '92, Water World '95, and of course Maiden, in 2018. Maiden has 90% rating in rotten tomatoes from both the critics and the audience. The other two were shown before Rotten Tomatoes existed! If you like Mighty Mary feel free to rate!

Mighty Mary runs only Sept 11 - 18 in select AMC theaters nationwide. Read below for the inside scoop on some sailor-organized watch parties - including my schedule.

You might wonder, other than the obvious connection, that I'm in the movie as to why a whole newsletter is devoted to this film. Well, the modern day footage was all filmed at Oakcliff where we had 60 volunteers helping, so it was a team effort and we love our volunteers and thank you!

Next newsletter will report on visiting dignitaries, regatta results and the bats and bugs on the Vineyard Race, where 50% of the sailors were in high school! Watch them on Facebook or Instagram.

Michigan -AMC Global 30 - Detroit Gang - TICKETS

Sunday Sept 13 Merritt Palm Keffer, Stu Argo, Debbie Pettibone and I will be at the AMC in Sterling Heights (Mound and Hall for locals) for the 7:20 showing but will be pregaming - or tailgating as Stu calls it - at 6pm A&J's just next door. We sold out a small theater so they moved to a big one with plenty of tickets left, hope to see you there

Newport Jane Pickens - International Women - TICKETS

Friday Sept 11 There is an amazing event, The Women's International Regatta that Cory Sertl and the NYYC have organized and it overlaps perfectly with the release date. They have mandatory practice beginning Sept 12 so many of the competitors will attending the 5pm opening night showing at Jane Pickens. Stars in the audience will include, Leslie Egnot from New Zealand, Katie Pettibone (MI/CA), Lisa McDonald, Linda Lindquist, Joan Touchette and Dana Riley, my sister who along with my Mom, catered the 5 day shoot. That is 5 days of the best Craft Services many in the crew had had for Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner! Others who will be in the area with their game-faces on getting ready for the super high-level event are Hannah Swett and Melisa Purdy. I suspect the energy at this showing will be electric and if you are racing or spectating, the networking intense. I will pop up to say hello (at the after race social - Tuesday Sept 15).

San Diego - Mission Bay- "Home" of the Cup - TICKETS

Annie Gardner will be there almost every day by the looks of it :-). The 11th and 16th are almost sold out. I think Christy Steinem and JJ Fetter will also be at one showing or another.

Annapolis the Sailing Capital of the World :-)? - TICKETS

September 11 Merritt Palm Keffer, who is also the poster girl for the film will be at the the 7:10 Film on opening night,

Boston - Mary Mazzio's Home Turf! - TICKETS

September 11 Director Mary Mazzio, Merritt Carey, Rock Ferrigno, Amy Baltzell and Marci Lucier will ALL will be at the the 7:15 Film on opening night. I am sure they will head out for some post movie entertainment.

September 18 and 21 Atlanta and Italy! Closing out the run, I'll be in Atlanta on the 18th and popping over to Italy for a showing in Naples on the 21st. I very much look forward to catching up with my friends, from all of the campaigns past and current.

Almost 2 years in the making - not counting the 40 years of sailing and it is here! I hope you can see it for real in theaters, but if your school or company wants a private showing later, email me and I'll connect you.
