The CYC 420 regatta was held in the Potter's Cove racing area just north of the Jamestown bridge in classic south bay seabreeze conditions.
Over 2 days we got in 12 races, over half the races were in full trapezing conditions for the sailors which the bigger teams enjoyed! The current was a changeable throughout the day and the sailors who figured it out best could make big leaps of distance. Each race saw different competitors towards the front of the fleet and growing confidence each race from those who started at the back of the fleet. We never once heard "how much longer will we be racing today"! It seemed the sailors really enjoyed the conditions.
Many thanks to the CYC race committee team on the water. The starting line team worked hard all day with my requests to pull the mark up after each start to make the finish line the right length. At the end of the first day of racing the hungry sailors, coaches and RC (close to 60 people) were treated to great food provided by 3 awesome CYC parents. Conanicut Yacht Club looks forward to welcoming everyone back next year!
