Celebrate 250 Years of America on World Environment Day during World Oceans Week with a Celebration Race featuring Tall Ships, Twelves and World Class Sailboats on the 24 mile Newport Ocean Race Course.

Rhode Island declared Independence on May 4th and America on July 4th.  This June 5th event celebrates it all in the Sailing Capital of the World.  The British are Coming !; including the London Olympics Torchbearer; Sir Steve Redgrave with his 5 Olympic Gold Medals.

Tall Ship “Tabor Boy” , Twelve Metre “Intrepid” and World Class “Temptation” will all be sailing in the event, followed by music and fireworks.  This special day is inspired by the America’s Cup Jubilee in Cowes, England where 201 boats sailed around the Isle of Wight honoring 150 years of the America’s Cup.  It was a lifetime memory event with top sailors from around the world. Now, goodwill among nations and sailors will again bring a special moment to the world of sailing on the United Nations World Environment Day during World Oceans Week.  A target fleet record (max) 250 boats will celebrate 250 Years of America.

* Entries will open soon.  Recommend reserving a starting place with an Entry Reservation (no cost or obligation).  Entry 251 and above will be placed on a waiting list.

** All net proceeds to Tall Ships America (focus on Sail Training & Workforce Development)
