Sail Newport hosted a 12 boat ILCA regatta on July 14, 2026. We enjoyed near-perfect conditions with a building 12-16 knot southerly wind and a slacking ebb tide. The racing was tight with 4 different race winners in the 5 races sailed. In the end, we had a three way tie for first. We sailed modified windward/leewards with a gate at the bottom.

Thanks to all the competitors and coaches for supporting the event. Special shout out to the two sailors and their coach who made the trip from Hyannis to add to the competition!

In 1st Place was Henry Richards of Ida Lewis Yacht Club. In 2nd, we had Theo Fechner of Sail Newport / BCRP. And in 3rd place was Cooper Hall, from the East Greenwich Yacht Club and the Greenwich Bay Sailing Association. The Top Girl Skipper was Claire Patterson from Sail Newport.
