2009 Boat of the Year Winner

Rigadoon

Bill and Doug Riggs and their crew on Rigadoon take Boat of the Year Honors and beat Caneel by 1/1000th of a point ending Chip Hawkins two year domination!  The GMT boat of the year contest came down to the final race. Going into Saturday’s Sail for Hope, Chip Hawkins in Caneel led Bill and Doug Riggs in Rigadoon by a little over 2/1000th of a point. They both sailed good races and ended up 2nd in their respective fleets. However, with 12 boats in Rigadoon’s class and only 7 boats in Caneel’s class Rigadoon ended up with a combined average score of .9503 to Caneel’s .9502, a difference of 1/10,000th of a point. Both Skippers are to be congratulated on hugely successful seasons.  Third place finish was Coconut, skippered by Tom D’Albora.
